On August 2 1945 the men of the American 486th Bomb Group marched down from the airfield at Chilton for a final goodbye to the people of Sudbury. Here speeches are being made from the steps of the Town Hall whilst the commemorative bronze plaque on the wall beyond awaits unveiling. Freddie Cresswell was the mace bearer in the top hat.
