Dr Holden with his bicycle in 1898. He trained as a doctor at Belfast and Edinburgh and served in the town for some 50 years retiring in about 1914. For many years he was also Medical Officer of Health for the town and surrounding areas including Melford, Glemsford and the Belchamps. He practiced from his surgery opposite the Friars Street cricket ground. He died in July 1923 at the age of 86.
