We believe that this is the family of George Baker standing outside Victoria Cottage on Windmill (now Constitution) Hill c1885. George Baker was a civil servant with the Excise Department, Senior Division, who is shown living here in the censuses of 1881 and 1891. His wife Esther is on the right and the young girl on the left may be their youngest daughter Jessie. One of a collection of images taken on glass plates by Eugene Ernest Purr before he moved to Ipswich in 1901.
