Lieutenant Robert Seymour Mesham

Military Labour Corps, West African Field Force

Robert Mesham was the younger son of Arthur Mesham.  His father was in colonial service and was a Resident Magistrate in Pietermaritzberg, Natal.  South Africa.  Robert was married to Elizabeth.  The family lived at one time at Arthur Hall, Melford Road, which is now the Tarantella Hotel and restaurant.  Robert’s nationality on the CWGC is given as South African.  After the war his widow Elizabeth was living in Eastbourne.  Robert died on 19th April 1918 and is buried in the Pemba Cemetery, Mozambique.
